Report Cards

Hello!

Just a reminder that report cards go home today.  Remember you may keep the report card at home, we just need the brown envelope back and signed as soon as possible.  Thank you so much and here's to 4th quarter!

4th Grade Chapter 10 SS TEST

The students heard this today but just wanted to send it out there!  

The chapter 10 test will be tomorrow (Thursday).  The 4th graders will be able to use their quizzes (yellow, pink, purple), worksheets (lesson 1, 2, 3) and the Chapter Review (tonight's homework) on their test- no blue study guides or books.  I reminded them to PLEASE remember to bring these papers with them tomorrow!  

*If your student will not be here tomorrow they will make this test up on Monday and please make sure they have studied and bring these papers back as well.

Week of March 24th

Good Afternoon!

Happy week before Spring Break!  We hope that everyone is doing something restful next week before entering into the home stretch :)

This week in...

Reading:  We will have our Reading Test on The Cricket in Times Square on Wednesday

Spelling:  Lesson 29

Religion: Chapter 7 and rice bowl activities

4th LA: Finishing up Roadrunner essays ad working on adjectives: more, most, good, better, best

5th LA: Subject and object pronouns and there will be a quiz on Thursday

4th SS:  We will finish Chapter 10 this week the test will be on Thursday.  If your student will not be in on Thursday they will take it after break

5th SS:  Chapter 9 test on Thursday and Friday.  Hopefully everyone finishes it on Thursday, especially the students who will not be here on Friday.  If your student will not be in on Thursday they will take it after break.

Friday - Stations of the Cross

Don't forget that 4th and 5th grade will lead Stations of the Cross on Friday at 1:15.  Please join us if you can. 

The students who are reading were given a blue index card that have their reading on it.  Please have them practice this and remind them to read S L O W L Y and take PAUSES!

The students who are "acting" have an exact part that they must portray.  Please have them practice by telling you when they are suppose to go up, who they are with, and what their pose is. 

Also please do not forget school shoes, wear proper uniform, and we are also asking that any hair bows/headbands are kept simple for Friday.

Week of March 17th

Good Morning!  Happy St. Patrick's Day!

This week on Friday the 4th and 5th grade will be leading stations of the cross at 1:15.  We will have practices during the school day on Tuesday and Wednesday.

On Wednesday the GIRLS have out of uniform for winning the box top contest

We did not get a chance to hand out Friday folders last Friday- we will do a combined Friday folder this week!

This week in...

Reading: We will be reading the Cricket in Times Square this week.

Spelling: Lesson 28

Religion:  Chapter 7

4th LA:  Finish up adjectives, possible quiz on Friday.  Also starting their essays about Roadrunners

5th LA:  Starting Pronouns

4th SS:  Our IL test is on Tuesday- students have a study guide.  On Wednesday we will start chapter 10 and should finish it by spring break- it is a very short chapter

5th SS: Continuing on in Chapter 9- we will have a test next week right before spring break

Week of March 10th

Good Morning!

Our field trip is on Thursday!  Remember that we are out of uniform for it, wear good walking shoes, and please remember to pack a sack lunch and a drink for your student.  We would really appreciate it if everything brought in their lunches could be thrown out at the end of lunch.  Thanks in advance!

Also this week we will begin our practice for the 4th and 5th grade stations of the cross.  Our Friday for that is next week, March 21st.  Some students will have a speaking part that will need to be practiced at home others will have a standing/acting part.

This week in...

Reading- Our story is Because of Winn Dixie.  It is just an excerpt from the full book.  Out test will not be this week due to time.  We will have it sometime next week- Tuesday or Wednesday?

Spelling:  Lesson 27 workbook due on Friday also test and extra credit due on Friday as well

Religion:  Begin Chapter 7 and discuss rice bowl activities

4th LA: Continuing with Adjective Unit  They will have a writing activity over what they saw at the Chicago History Museum on Friday

5th LA: Will finish adjective unit this week and will have a quiz on Friday

4th SS:  IL Unit.  A study guide will go home on Tuesday highlighting the information they will need to know for our IL Quest (quiz-test).  We will have that sometime next week.  Also Midwest letters and scrapbook pages are due this Wednesday- March 12th

5th SS:  Beginning of chapter 9- Declaration of Independence

Week of March 3rd

Good Afternoon!

Happy first week of March :)

This week we will be celebrating Mass on Wednesday for Ash Wednesday.  If you are available please come to our Mass.

Also a special messenger went home today.  We will spend at least one religion class each week talking about each child and country for that week.  It looks very informational and engaging.

Also Best Buddy members can bring in $0.50 for a "spread the word to end the word" bracelet.  Best Buddy members will be allowed to wear these bracelets for the first 2 weeks of March.  We had a meeting today and received Valentine's from fellow Best Buddy members and even watched a video of them receiving our Valentines- it was very special!

This week in....

Reading: Juan Verdades. Our skill is theme. Test Friday

Spelling:  Lesson 26

Religion:  Lent activities this week

4th LA:  Adjectives.  In class review on Wednesday, Quiz Thursday

5th LA:  Diocesan persuasive writing- all work will be done in school

4th SS:  We will finish our region tour of the Midwest on Tuesday.  Wednesday will be an in-class work day for our letters and scrapbook pages.  These will be due on Wednesday, March 12th.  The rest of the week will be our unit on Illinois

5th SS:  Chapter 8 will come to an end on Tuesday!  Wednesday will be a review day and Thursday and Friday will be Chapter 8 test.  There is no vocab for this chapter.  Please have your student explain to you how each of these battles worked.  They should be able to tell you about the Battle of Lexington,  The Battle of Concord, The 20 mile walk back to Boston, and the Battle of Bunker Hill. They also should be able to tell you all 3 Intolerable Acts.
