Happy Tuesday!

Our last week before Christmas Break- can you believe it is already here?  The students have been preparing and rehearsing very hard this week for their Christmas Program on Thursday night and we are also looking forward to it!  Remember please bring in a candle ASAP if you haven't ordered one this year or haven't brought one in already!  We are practicing with them this week!

We will not have spelling workbook at all this week but we will have a reading test on our story Firestorm on Thursday morning.

We also we be getting our classroom winners this week for the spelling bee and the geography bee- lots of bees this week :)

We also hope that you received the email from Mrs. Stasi concerning our school safety.  We of course are very sadden by the events that took place last Friday and are holding special prayers in our hearts for the victims.

Please enjoy this holiday season with your family and friends and a VERY Merry Christmas to all of our wonderful fourth grade students and families!!

Candles

Good Afternoon!

Please remember to send your battery operated candle to school sometime this week!  Please please please put your child's initials on it.  We will hold them in the classrooms and make sure that they use them for dress rehearsals next week and we will keep them safe for the Christmas Program next Thursday evening.  Some of you ordered a candle this year and we do have them.  By Friday this week we will let students know who has one here and who doesn't.

Thank you!

Week of December 10th

Dear Parents,

Another busy week at SJS coming up!  On Tuesday the students will be going to Confession, on Wednesday we will have all school mass to celebrate Our Lady of Guadalupe, and of course all of our learning that takes place each week.

Also if each student could spare one box of tissues that would be great!  We are good on wipes and making sure that we are keeping our areas clean but our tissues run low especially during this cold and flu season.  Thanks in advance!

This week in:

Reading: we will finish up our Seymour Simon research projects and begin reading our story Firestorm.  Our skill is drawing conclusions.  The reading test for this story will not be until next Wednesday!

Science: the students will have a science test sometime this week, possibly Wednesday, more info to follow!

Math:  multiplication practice- review your facts!

Language Arts: the students reviewed alphabetizing and dictionary skills.  Do you need them to organize anything or look up a word for you?  They should be experts!

Social Studies:  Chapter 5 begins.  We will learn all about the people of the Northeast region.

Spelling: Lesson 16

Religion:  We will review our facts about Our Lady of Guadalupe and Confession.

Character:  We read a story entitled My Secret Bully by Trudy Ludwig.  Such a  great story- ask your 4th grader about it! We are going to continue this conversation and also talk about second chances with friends.  Our character posters are ready to be laminated and will be up next week!

Thanks again for all of your support.  If any questions arise please feel free to contact us!
